About James
I’ve lived a varied and interesting life. Growing up in a leafy Sydney, Australia suburb I learnt to love the outdoors, sports and fishing. After completing school I stumbled into my own successful garden maintenance business in Sydney before moving to the sub-tropical Byron Bay region of Australia’s east coast. There, I built my own house (literally by hand) and moved into communications work within the non-profit sector.
In the year 2000 I was sent to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where I established a number of non-profit organizations and became involved in communications, training and strategic leadership. I built a strong international team there focusing on using refreshing communications styles and new media. I finished that role as Regional Director for the European operations of a global non-profit organization.
After 10 years abroad I returned to Australia and to work in management in Disability Employment Services and continue to doing consulting in communications, writing, translation tuning and branding.
I enjoy weekends at home, travel and backgammon. I still need 2 strong coffees each morning to get going. I am married to Susie who I first met in 1968 and have 3 grown up children living in Europe.
